Japan Animator Expo: Not your Stereotypical Anime

You've heard of the suddenly-famous (and controversial) animated EDM video, "ME!ME!ME!" by TeddyLoid, right? You know, that psychedelic dream sequence with busty anime girls and a doomed guy who's a porn enthusiast? That and other animation shorts are all part of the Nihon Animator Mihonichi (Japan Animator Expo) series.

Here's my review for each of the 4 episodes so far:

Musician Stereotypes

If you are new to the world of sound creation, song composition, songwriting, soundtrack arrangement, music arrangement, etc., then I have prepared a list of people  you should be careful of dealing with, a.k.a. Musician Stereotypes.

I'm still not a pro or anything in music, though I've faced tough crap in my 7 years of being indie and I'm just gonna give a heads-up to people who could become a victim of these selfish stereotypes. So here we go:

Pacquiao vs. Algieri: Some Thoughts

It's once again a national holiday in the Philippines due to a boxing fight: Manny Pacquiao vs. Chris Algieri. I know that our "Filipino Pride" is something that cannot be changed, so I'll go on analyzing other things than "athlete patriotism".

10 Most Heartbreaking Oldies Songs

Since my mom listens to oldies almost all the time, even since I was a kid, I've gotten accustomed to some oldies songs and some of them are really painful with the lyrics. Here are 10 heartbreaking oldies songs that really wounded my heart, even more when I found out the story behind the song.

So now that I've done DIY Sketchbook, Tony and Shrignold from the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared Series, I've decided to do the three puppets, Yellow Guy (Manny), Red Guy (Harry) and Bird Puppet (Robin) as well!

Making the puppets turned out a lot harder than the first three characters I made from paper, since these guys will be made from cloth.

DIY Shrignold / Pesky Bee (DHMIS 3)

As promised in this post, I've finally done my own DIY Shrignold (Pesky Bee) from Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 3!

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 3: Pesky Bee

The much-awaited DHMIS 3 (Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 3) by Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling (ThisIsIt Collective) is now released.

From a series with already 2 episodes, this one is a 6-minute jam-packed episode (compared to previous 3-minute ones). Here's my review.

Transgender Murder in the Philippines: What it Implies

Okay, so we've probably known the recent news of Jeffrey "Jennifer" Laude, the transgender who was allegedly killed by, allegedly, a US Marine officer. It's all over the news and here's what I think.

If we look back at the previous case of "Nicole" and Daniel Smith (who was said to be acquitted of the crime/case dismissed or something), and considering the fact that the VFA (Visiting Forces Agreement) rules, as explained by an attorney of TV5, are more of "pro-American" than for us, I can pretty much see a grim, dark cloud of injustice on the road ahead.

But the most alarming thing is that it's a transgender, coming from a group of yet-to-be accepted members of the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community in the Philippines, while in other countries, they're getting equal rights as normal people.

DIY Paige the Notepad and Tony the Clock (DHMIS)

As mentioned in the last post, I'm currently addicted to Don't Hug Me I'm Scared, so I made the two characters from the two episodes, Paige the Notepad (unofficial/fandom name) and Tony the Talking Clock.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared: Television Rules the Nation (?)

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared characters, L-R, top to bottom: Paige the Notepad (human ver.), Tony the Clock, the puppets (Harry, Manny and Robin), Paige the Notepad, Tony the Clock (human ver.) - both human versions drawn by me on Xperia Sketch.

Ever heard of those "original fairy tales" where the ending is far (and disturbing) from the Disney stereotypes? How about those heart-bending movies and music videos of Daft Punk, such as "Interstella 5555", "Electroma" and "Instant Crush"? How about "Happy Tree Friends"? That's kind of like how "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" gives off an unusual audience impact.

Huge List of Cartoons (and series) I've Watched (90s to Present)

I'm a 90s kid and I'm a happy 90s kid. The 90s were filled with all the awesome shows, so let's take a look back down memory lane, up to the present time. Regardless of where network they aired, here's a list of awesome cartoons that you probably also know about.

Anti-Selfie Bill in the Philippines? Wait what?

In case you haven't heard of yet, in the Philippines, there's a proposed bill/law that prohibits people from taking selfies. House Bill 4807 or the Protection against Personal Intrusion Act states that people shouldn't be allowed to take pics of other people or events without prior permission.

While this is good news for people with paparazzi problems, it's a big, questionable burden for journalists who want the mass media reports to be fair and transparent. Imagine if we didn't know our local congressman was actually spending PDAF money on your nearby casino. Imagine the life our elders had during Martial Law when press releases were controlled by the government. This proposed law is no different from the earlier controversial Online Libel Law.

My Top 15 Favorite Unique Singers (Vocalists)

All of us have favorite singers - it doesn't matter if they're just singers of EDM artists, band vocalists, singer-songwriters, etc. What matters is that you love their voice for some reason and it gets you relaxed or inspired. Here are 15 of my most favorite, from various genres, unique singers / vocalists, in no particular order.

Ice Bucket Challenge? How about...

While it's true that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge that was initiated by Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook is making people more aware of ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) while at the same time, having fun coattail-riding with social media trends, it's also true that ALS isn't the only lifetime disease that exists with little to no cure.

Let me explain.

Robin Williams: He Started a Joke

"...which started the whole world laughing." -- Bee Gees

In case you haven't heard yet, Robin Williams, aged 63, passed away this August 11, 2014, found in his home due to (possibly) suicide out of depression. He is a well-renowned comedy actor and an icon that many generations are going to miss.

Voiceless by HaveYouSeenThisGirL: Final Review / Analysis

Okay, so moving on from this initial review, I've finally finished the book, Voiceless by HaveYouSeenThisGirL. But first, let me tell you everything that happened right after I finished reading it.

Post-Reading Trauma

I finished the book in an average of 5 hours straight. No bathroom breaks whatsoever. Why? Because if I stop at a certain chapter, say, when Iris is bullying Momo / bitching Sync, I would probably tear up the pages or slam every object I get in my hands, unless I read on to finish what comes next. I repeat: I don't stop in the middle of feels / tragedies, especially love hexagons.

So, there. Because my eyes are fricking overused, added to the fact that I had allergic rhinitis on that day (yesterday), I was attacked by migraine, headache and dizziness. I couldn't simply divert my eyes downwards or to any direction or else I feel like I'm gonna throw up. This happened many times when I was watching anime / reading manga non-stop (because I couldn't stop at cliffhangers, like I said), but this time was more serious.

PNoy SONA 2014 Review: Pass or Flop?

With the recent 5th SONA or State of the Nation Address of the president of the Philippines, Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, here's what I have to say.

Room / Geek Stuff Haul

A haul is an "overhaul" or showcasing of stuff that you have in your room or house. Mostly done by fashion tutorial channels on YouTube.

I'm not a fashionista but I have a couple of geek stuff, dating from the 2000s. I sacrificed my nasal allergy (because of the tremendous amount of dust) just to take decent pictures of these precious gems.

Voiceless by HaveYouSeenThisGirL - Initial Reaction / Review

Someone once told me you shouldn't criticize something without reading, listening to or researching about it.

One. Just one. One should be enough. Just so I'd know and have an idea.

So some of you may ask, "why buy when you can download PDFs"? No, I'm not really that type of person. Heck, I even bought Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj and Akiko Shikata CDs without listening to even the previews. I support physical content rather than digital, because I'm a traditional type of person. (That's just my troublesome preference, sorry.)

And I know heyhaveyouseenthisgirl is a nice person. I hope she really is. (I sent her messages on dA and on e-mail because I had nothing else better to do with my life than to be an annoying girl and vent my vents to other people)

Aftermath of Typhoon Glenda

In case many of my followers don't know yet, Typhoon Rammasun (Glenda in the Philippines) directly hit our hometown, Quezon Province, which led to a 5-day blackout in our place.

This is the damage in our front yard.

Akiko Shikata - Laylania Concert DVD Review

So, after some months, me and my boyfriend finally managed to buy the Laylania Concert DVD of Akiko Shikata. It's her first live DVD and I cannot not get a copy (even if it's too late).

I've expected a lot from this live concert DVD and yeah, I got what I wanted. The first part (disc 1) is the Shiro no Utahime (White Songstress) while disc 2 is for the Kuro no Utahime (Black Songstress).

Tons of Projects and Announcements!

From here, my humblest apologies for a very long post! There's been a ton of updates and work to be done, so yeah.

Site Issues

Guys, very very sad news. Unfortunately, my website (, according to the domain/server provider ( crashed and corrupted the main backup files. There was an old backup but everything else after that is just dead gone.

Pic courtesy of my bf, Champ Camba.

In this case, I made a backup download page for my original games here, in case anyone else wants to download.

My tutorial blog (, is also affected and worse, nothing was left. It was my main source of income and it was the only hope that I ever had because it had so much traffic. However, you can still watch my tutorial videos on YouTube.

Really? Weh, di nga?

Paano kung napapunta ka sa agricultural sector? Mag-eenglish ka sa mga magsasaka?

Kasabay ng issue na ito ang pagsasalin ni Danton Remoto sa romance hit novel na "The Fault in Our Stars" ni John Green, na alam kong fandom na ng halos lahat ng Pinoy ngayon.

Finally Doing dA Prints / Premium Content (After 8 Years)

So apparently, back then in 2006 and 2007, only premium users can sell art. At first, I had hesitations when they finally let all dA users sell art because probably no one would buy mine, but hey, I'm just gonna try, right? XD

Check out my Prints

A Guide to Fandoms and Fandom Speak

As I've stated in my previous post, not many people know fandom speak or fanbase speak or terms such as "OTP", "shipping" or "canon". For the convenience, here's a short course on the basics, as well as useful terms/phrases you might encounter, most of which I found on Tumblr.

For the First Time In Forever

Aside from being a Frozen reference, it really is a first time in forever - to meet online friends in real life, more special because people in the province/mountains (like me) have less than 5% of actually meeting one or two.

So yeah, this Pasayahan sa Lucena (Quezon Province), May 28th, 2013, two of my best otaku buddies, Jake Yuon and Rhain, actually went here (despite the fact that they had to leave early so they didn't really catch the main cosplay event). I've never been so happy in my life like this.

Pros and Cons of Being a Fan

Let's face it: all of us are fans of something, or at least, we might have used to be if we left it behind. Most of us adore a certain celebrity, singer, business icon, comedian, critic, politician, band, show, and everything else in between. But how far is too far?

With the recent uproar of 1D (One Direction) fans going hysterical over fast selling out of VIP tickets in their latest concert here in the Philippines, and the much-earlier story in Japan, during the Free! Season 2 announcement, where fangirls fought over the shortage of Makoto Tachibana (character from the anime)'s posters, using traffic cones, you gotta wonder: is being a fan of something really safe or not?

Who is the Real Enemy? (X-Men: Days of Future Past Movie Review)

I don't usually watch big-time Hollywood movies, but today will be another exception, aside from The Avengers two years ago.

X-Men: Days of the Future Past, is actually the very first X-Men movie I ever saw (forgive me, I'm not really much into Marvel stuff, but I like super powers in general). I'm here to do a short review of the film, since me and my bf just watched it this afternoon.

McDonald's - Happiness in a Box + Cover Version!

Usually, I don't remake/cover commercials, but this is one big heck of an exception.

Just almost a week or two ago, McDonald's Philippines started airing this wonderful commercial:

"Let's go up in space or in the deep blue sea
Play with a robot and jump over the trees
Ride a choo-choo train, fly up the sky
Discover happiness in a box for you and me!"

As a kid-minded 22-year-old, THIS IS ABSOLUTE BEAUTY FOR ME.

Kazaki's PewDiePie Stuff!

Most of us are aware of the famous YouTube gamer/comedian, PewDiePie (Felix Kjellberg). I've been part of his "Bro Army" for some time ago, around 2012, when I discovered him from the horror comic "Bongcheon-Dong Ghost". Later on, I discovered Ib from his LPs (Let's Plays) and the rest is history.

I'm posting this so that fellow "bros" will know that I make PewDiePie-related stuff too, and most are quite underrated/unnoticed.

PewDiePie Adventures (Original Album/Music)

This is an original work, full album, based from PewDiePie's Amnesia characters (and the Happy Wheels ones), when I first got into the Pewds fandom. Originally, I noobishly e-mailed him a suggestion for him to do vocals on some of the songs, but well, reality sucks. And, I lost to billions of fans who did dubstep that reached them to millions of views on YouTube, while my stuff are left in the back drawers.

DIY Queen Elsa Dress (?)

Okay, first of all, I'm not really good at sewing. Really. I just tried so hard. XD

Anyways, I made a Queen Elsa dress (from the movie "Frozen") for my Barbie doll out of boredom.

New Album: "Inside a Dream"

Guys, I have just released a new album called "Inside a Dream", also part of the Lost Utopia Series.

Inside a Dream is basically a continuation of short songs from my individual LU albums and some are English versions of other LU-related songs I’ve released in the past.

Don't Lose Your Way: Alagwa (Movie Review)

I know a lot of Kill la Kill fans recognize my title very well. XD

Anyways, I'm here to do a review of one of the most influential films (an indie film, surprisingly, since I'm not very much into those) that I've seen in my entire life. Let's just say, Alagwa connects to my life a lot more accurately than other movies (although most films, anime and shows I've seen always have connections with my current/past life situations anyway, like they're meant for me LOL).

What's the movie about?

Forgive the quality, I just watched it on CinemaOne. XD
Alagwa (Breakaway) is a dark, twisted tale of a single parent Robert Lim (Jericho Rosales) and his son Brian (Bugoy Carino) as the boy gets unexpectedly lost in a mall and his father strives in desperation to find him. He soon traces his son's whereabouts to a contact person from a child-trafficking syndicate (Smokey Manaloto) and negotiations begin.

Worst/Best LSS Commercials on Pinoy TV

Disclaimer: this is only a personal opinion and not to be take as a serious form of libel by the advertisers/personalities. I REPEAT: THIS IS ONLY A PERSONAL OPINION. Everyone has their own likes/dislikes and the right to say that to your face.

What's your Googliness Level? - The Internship (Movie Review)

Alright, finally gonna do another movie review! This time, it's a rather old movie that I was supposed to watch before but never got the chance to, and now I just saw it on TV (Star Movies).

For those who think this is a random office-setting movie, you're wrong. Heck, it's not even an office: it's a playground for minds with so-called "Googliness" - yep, we're talking about Google Headquarters - Googleplex.

Accurate Filipino Charts

I've seen these a lot of these funny Pie Chart memes that have been circulating around the Internet. So, I had the idea of creating some of my own (I hope they're not that corny). They're mostly my point of view on our society today (in the Philippines), and also have other chart types aside from Pie Charts.

Upcoming July Anime: Early Birthday Presents!

Yes, you've heard it: there are a lot of really awesome anime shows airing on July, almost as if they knew it's going to be my birthday on that month. Here's the list:

Tubo / Sugarcane Juice at Ongpin

One great refreshment that my dad got the idea from my late grandpa during their past trips to Sta. Cruz, Manila, is the Tubo Talaga or tubo / sugarcane juice. It's an awesome thirst-quencher that doesn't dry out your mouth with its sweetness.

Yesterday, we went to the big city again to grab some shots.

Huge List: Memes Translated to Tagalog/Filipino

We all know that Internet memes have not just taken over America and other parts of the world, but also in our home country, the Philippines. And the cool thing is that, they're not only on the Internet anymore, but also on sidewalks, tarpaulins, posters and even advertisements! And for that, I've prepared a large, seemingly-hilarious (I hope it's not very corny) list of famous memes translated in our native tongue, Tagalog (Filipino) - some with bonus alternative terms I've made up and explanations.

RPG Maker / WOLF Editor Games: The New Trend?

As an indie game maker who uses RPG Maker XP, I'd also have to make this post - to let everyone know how and why such pixel games got mainstream.

These game makers are both made in Japan and are being used by many Japanese game developers. In contrast to the high-end graphics, complex gameplay and touch/motion-activated controls of today's games, many people still prefer games made in RPG Maker and WOLF Editor, especially those of the horror genre. Why is that?

Interesting Things on Akiko Shikata's CDs

So, I was kind of bored one day and decided to re-read all of my original Akiko Shikata CDs. And guess what? I found some interesting images and whatnot:

Romance Novels and Wattpad: A Personal Insight

First of all, I would like you to know that I write stories of various genres. You can check out my works at the following:
I've been writing stories for a long time, since around 2004 or earlier, though I admit my plots back then were...uhh...predictably cheesy. I've only recently created a Wattpad account, only on January 26, 2013. My story blog (from Blogger) was also created a bit late, only around 2012. You can, however, also find some of my stories (with original post dates) on deviantART.

The reason I'm writing this is for two reasons:

1. "Diary of Broken", a series I wrote in 2010 as an EP and original story, and later on a manga, is getting a namesake counterpart called "Diary ng Panget" (which you probably already know, go Google it, it's famous as hell). If you've been around with me for a long time, this kind of "unintentional prediction" is quite normal. Here are a couple of examples:

Same-name song. Good thing they're on different keys and language.

April Announcements and Updates

Lots of things have happened this past month (and the month before), so here's a summary of things:

Project: Restore QZN Release

For those who are waiting for this exploration game made in RPG Maker XP, the wait is over! This is a free game that's about Quezon Province, it's natural beauty, and quests to restore its lost culture! Download it here.

Many years after the present time, the Philippines has been devastated by a global phenomenon known as “disappearing cultures”, where people from a certain province or state suddenly disappear, and only those residents who are temporarily in another place could survive. One of the affected provinces in the country is Quezon Province.

This is a free-to-download game developed by Kristel “Kazaki” Cuadra in 2014 using RPG Maker XP. It’s an exploration game that is also educational and promotes the tourism of Quezon Province.

Signal Boost: Original Stories & Games

If you're new to my blog and my stuff, then you'd better know that I write stories, original ones, and sometimes, make games from my stories. And sometimes, I also put stories in my music, albums and EPs because I want to.

Yeah, everyone of us has a bit of selfishness from within, and some of those have lead us to be superstars whose novels and pocketbooks have been converted into movies, and some free games going wildly mainstream in an insane way.

And here I am in the shadows like Tetsuya Kuroko. Just kidding, but it's the truth anyway.

So I'm sending out a signal boost for everyone who's kinda interested in reading stories, playing games, etc.

This is my main story blog where I publish my original stories, sorted in genres and categories. I write mostly in fantasy, adventure, science fiction and some slice-of-life with plot twists. I do fan fiction as well. They're not very long - even the series ones with chapters (Moon Angel, Metronome, O2Jam Fanfictions) have really short chapters.

My Something Cents on Various Creative Fields

I’m not a professional or anything - I’m just giving out some things I’ve personally encountered (based from experience) so that people who are new to these fields will have an idea of what kind of world they’re going to face.

Hope this helps you out or enlightens other people.
  • A good mix doesn’t always mean a good song. But mixing is also important, so don’t throw it away.
  • Getting inspirational sound styles from other artists is good, but copying their style is not good.
  • Value and quality of studio equipment or instrument doesn’t matter if your music is ugly and redundant. Same is true for DAW and related music software - it’s about how you use it.
  • Remember that complex music is not for the masses. If you choose to sell songs, make simple but effective ones (but not too cliche!).
  • If you’re not enjoying making music, quit. There may be other suitable fields for you.
(I seriously could’ve given more but I gotta be fair for the other fields lol)

Frozen Colors (January 2014 Updates)

It's a chilly year ahead. Gather around your blankets and warm noodles - here are some of my updates and stuff.

Let It Go (Cover Song)

I've done a cover version of a song from the Disney movie "Frozen", originally by Idina Menzel. Unfortunately, other sites won't let me upload it (apparently because the instrumental I used is from the official one, but hey I can't resist it's too beautiful not to use lol) so I uploaded and embedded it to my website with my bf's help. Listen up here.

My Twenty Pesos on Music Copyright Rules (esp. on the Internet)

From here, I'd like to apologize for having a really stupid and long title.

I'm sure all of us are aware on how YouTube and many other sites "monopolizes" the music industry by not allowing covers and remixes/remakes to last long on their site, because of the (super-overkill, for me at least) copyright rules. Millions of accounts have been banned, and millions of dreams have been crushed.

In the meantime, millions of worthless bakya cover artists make their way into being YouTube sensations, earning recording deals and gaining overrated sympathy. (Sorry, being a little emotional here)

Okay, first of all, I'm a musician/indie producer/artist/etc so I know why copyright exists - to protect artists from people who steal work. But I think the existing laws are too much, and focus a lot on capitalism and money-making. This is why I rarely upload covers/remakes or even make ones, especially on YouTube (though mashups are fine, surprisingly).
